The department welcomes Yinghua Chen, who became our Core Facilities Manager on Oct 1st. She received her Ph.D. degree from the University of Alabama in 2009 and then did a postdoctoral fellowship at National Cancer Institute (NCI/NIH) in Bethesda. Her research focus at the NIH was on protein structure determination and protein-protein interactions. Yinghua is the Department’s first Core Facilities Manager, a position that we recently created to organize, streamline, and enhance operations of the Department’s cores and common-usage equipment. These cores include the Protein Expression Purification and Crystallization Core (PEPCC) on the 5th floor of Robbins, as well as the Molecular Biophysics Core on the 6th floor. Her desk will be in the PEPCC.
