The Department welcomes Jeff Garvin, who will join us, effective November 28. He brings with him five members of his laboratory from Detroit. Jeff is an authority on the role of the kidneys in the regulation of blood pressure and the genesis of hypertension. In 2011, Jeff was the recipient of the prestigious Gottschalk Award of the American Physiological Society—one of the most prestigious honors in the renal field.
Jeff is currently Division Head, Hypertension and Vascular Research Division, Department of Internal Medicine, at the Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit. He also is Professor of Physiology at Wayne State University, and is currently the Principal Investigator of a Program Project Grant on hypertension from the NIH Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute.
